'Why Should I Use a Travel Consultant?"

Updated: Jun 4, 2020

You’ve probably asked the question, “How will utilizing a travel consultant benefit me in my travels?” With lots of different online booking engines available in this day and age, it’s a valid question that we hear often! So, we’ve written this article to help you understand why we think vacationing with a travel advisor is the best way to vacation.

1. You are too busy to do the research

Whether you’re full-time in the workforce or a full-time stay-at-home parent - who really has the extra time on their hands to plan an unforgettable vacation? Most people don’t! That’s why we would do it all for you - all the ins and outs of planning, the nitty-gritty details, the phone calls, the reservations, and price comparisons. Then, we would review the entire itinerary with you before booking anything to make sure that it’s exactly what you want.

2. You value your time

Your time is valuable. How often is it that you get to spend a week or two away on holiday? I’d much rather that you spend every second on vacation completely devoted to relaxing and exploring. As your travel advisor, I’d anticipate the in-trip hassles, and take care of any complications that may come up during the trip, so that you can do just that.

3. You want an advocate in case there are issues

Life is unpredictable, and travel can be too. I’m trained to handle all of the issues that you might face. I’ll know what phone numbers to call and whom to speak with. And, I’ll save you the hours spent on hold waiting for an operator, just to be transferred to a different department!

Travelers really learned the value of having a travel advisor when COVID-19 struck the globe. As people had to head home from all over the world, who do you think got the better, quicker, and more helpful assistance in adjusting plans? Those with their own advocate like GlobeSage or those who were on hold with Expedia,, or Costco for 5 hours? It’s a no-brainer.

4. You appreciate learning from others’ experiences

A trip rich with authentic, cultural experiences translates to a lot of time spent researching and verifying. Our team pulls from our collective experience and product knowledge through past trips, client feedback, and in-depth training. This way, instead of you having to trust inanimate third party resources, I can do deep dives into your destination and present my findings to you, assuring that you get the vacation you’ve always dreamed of.

5. You don’t know where to start

There are so many aspects and details that go into trip planning, it’s hard to know where to start. How about doing it the easy way? Start with scheduling a consultation with our team! During our free 15-30 minute conversation, you can share all of your thoughts, hopes, and dreams with us as we brainstorm together the best next steps. No matter where you are in the planning process, let us help - even if you don’t even yet know where you want to go! Let us ask you the questions, so together we can come up with the answers perfect for you and your fellow travelers. It’s that simple!

6. You have learned the hard way that you get what you pay for

New research found that nearly one in four people are scammed by third-party booking sites, translating to a loss of more than $5.7 billion. Even if you haven’t been a victim of a scam, have you ever arrived at your destination only to be terribly disappointed by the appearance and quality of your accommodations that don’t match the pictures or descriptions? Make sure the money you saved for a special vacation goes into the right hands!

Besides the higher level of trust working with an agent, being a member of a consortium means that often we are able to negotiate special rates and perks on behalf of you! Free cocktails and room upgrades, spa treatments and late checkouts with supplier does that sound?

7. Get important, up-to-date information.

When there are changes in documents needed to travel, or travel visa requirements, you’ll always know as soon as we do. Our job is to keep you informed and to remind you to complete all of the necessary steps of travel, so there are no surprises when you arrive at the airport. Unlike the online booking sites that are done when they get your money, our entire business is based on relationships with our clients. We want to serve your travel needs from our first planning conversation until you are safely back home and itching for your next adventure.

8. Find the right travel option for you.

As travel expands from the air to the sea, so do the choices available to you. As more airlines are joining the trend to unbundle, fare options range from Basic Economy to Economy to Business; and additional services such as baggage checking and seat reservations mean there are more components for you to consider. Booking a cruise is complex, as there are dozens of cabin categories and multiple rate codes, as well as refundable and non-refundable rates, guaranteed cabins, and cabins with free perks. There are also organized tours, both large and small, and customized private tour itineraries. There’s budget travel, luxury travel, and everything in between. As travel advisors, we are uniquely trained to help you to choose the combination that is right for you and your family.

When it comes down to it...

For important trips, complex itineraries, or group travel, don’t do it alone. Let us deal with the multiple room categories on a cruise ship, the complicated flight bookings, or the research through hundreds of land excursions to find you the perfect selections. Our job is to know what to look for and when. When working with a travel advisor, all YOU really need to do is pack your bags, show up and enjoy the tailor-made vacation planned exclusively for you.
