A Year of Beautiful Travels - Victoria Edition
2021 was an unforgettable year. It took many unexpected twists and rough turns, and I am still processing how it all played out, but in the same breath, it was filled with some of the most beautiful moments of my life to this date.
Last year I wrote a blog about how my sweet Ellis Brave was meant to be born in January 2021, but he ended up being born 3.5 weeks early in December of 2020! From that point, until about 3 months later we really hunkered down and stayed home because of the pandemic.
As soon as his first round of immunizations were administered and we hit that three-month mark, we were ready to expose Ellis to the world. Travel is such a huge value of my husband and I's, so as soon as the doctor gave us the green light, we took advantage of it!
ELLIS' FIRST FLIGHT
Ellis' first time on an airplane was a short & sweet hour trip to go see my grandparents in New Mexico. Growing up, I remember seeing my grandparents hold my cousin's babies and I always hoped and prayed they would be able to hold my babies too. Getting to have them hold my first son was truly such an answered prayer and dream come true. Lots of cuddles and family time was just what our hearts needed.
OUR FIRST TRIP AS A FAMILY OF THREE
In May we had the opportunity to fly across the country to Maui, Hawaii! We had always dreamt of going to Hawaii, but getting to go with our immediate family was the cherry on top. We were able to fully immerse ourselves in the island culture and goodness gracious it was dreamy... I wouldn't be surprised if we found ourselves there again, maybe even permanently!
A HOT WEEKEND AWAY IN ARIZONA
Shortly after we arrived home from Hawaii, we packed our bags and made our way to Arizona! We used to live there, and we desperately wanted our friends to meet our sweet little love. While we were there, we were able to celebrate the love of our friends at their wedding! It was truly such a wonderful trip in the sun.
A QUICK TRIP TO ALABAMA
This trip looked a lot like the photos... sleepy cuddles wherever we could! We went to Alabama to visit my sister as she was away for the summer, and while we were there we took in every chance to slow down and spend intentional time together as a family! Sometimes last-minute trips are the best kind!
FAMILY TIME IN KANSAS CITY
This was our first true road trip as a family! We made our way to Kansas City to drop off my sister at her first home in college and then we made a stop to see Jacoby's (my husband) family. This was the first time that they were able to meet Ellis, so it was super sweet to see them unite and we also had an amazing time exploring my love's home city! If you haven't been, you have to go! It's so beautiful and clean.
FAMILY TIME IN THE SNOWY CITY
From August until November, my husband and I launched a new business and it required our everything. So when November rolled around we were so excited to be able to take a full week off with one another in snowy Winter Park, Colorado. Our family basked in the sunny rays while soaking up every moment of cold air that we could. It was so needed, so beautiful, and so refreshing to our souls.
OUR FIRST TRIP SOLO + OUR LAST TRIP OF 2021
To wrap up 2021, we were able to take our first trip as husband and wife without our Ellis. It was so incredible to step away from our day-to-day life, and instead, focus on being present and in the moment with each other and some sweet friends that we were able to travel with.
I am hopeful that you were able to take some time to disconnect and refocus for the New Year, and if you haven't yet, it's never too late. I encourage you to take a moment to dream about your future, set small goals to reach your big ones, and reveal the gold that was in the year 2021. 2022 has the potential to be the best year yet, and I pray that it is for each of us.
